Terrific article, Jeremy. I'd also love an analysis that looks at the articles or angles NYT publishes vs. those others print. I know there are already folks like AllSides.com show liberal, central, and conservative articles on a given topic. What I wonder about is the balance of pro-progressive articles vs. articles that are critical of progressives. Though, I'd bet that would be a tough analysis to make.
Yeah that’s pretty expansive just given the NYT’s sheer scale. They certainly lean progressive on the aggregate, but that isn’t to say they do so on all issues, or at least with anything approaching full consistency.
Yeah, I buy that. I just have a feeling that part of the reason people feel liberal media is biased is that the liberal media tends to cover things positive for Dems and negative for Conservatives. I don't know that that's the way it really plays out. But that could be a source of the appearance of bias. And I agree, that would be tough to check.
